Opal Care💎

Opals rank at about a 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale — meaning they are about as hard as glass and can scratch easily.

Last On, First Off: Put your opal jewelry on after applying makeup, perfume, hairspray, or lotion. The chemicals in these products can damage the stone's surface. Take them off first when getting un-ready.

No Hard Work: Remove your opal rings or bracelets before doing dishes, gardening, exercising, or doing heavy housework.

Weather Matters :Avoid wearing opals in extreme temperature shifts (like going from a freezing winter day straight to holding your hands over a roaring fireplace). Rapid expansion and contraction can cause fractures.

Opal Storage💝

Keep it Separate: We prepare a soft cloth bag for you to store your opal jewelry. Harder gems like diamonds, sapphires, and even quartz can easily scratch an opal.

Avoid Dehydration:  If you live in an exceptionally dry climate, placing a small damp cotton ball inside the storage container (not touching the jewelry) can help maintain a safe humidity level.

Opal Cleaning🧴

Use warm water, a few drops of mild dish soap, and a soft-bristled toothbrush or micro-fiber cloth. Gently wipe the stone and rinse it thoroughly.

Never use ultrasonic cleaners. The intense vibrations can crack the stone.

Never use chemical jewelry cleaners, bleach, or baking soda.

Never use steam cleaners.
